Why Lenders Prefer Borrowers with Good Credit

Buying a car is easy if you can pay cash. For most of us, however, we could not afford a car without financing it. Getting a car loan through financing is easy if you have a good or excellent credit score. But, what if you have a bad credit score? Well, a loan is still possible, but it can be harder to get approved this way. And, it can be harder to get a good rate on the loan even if you do get approved.

The reason that lenders prefer people with good credit scores is that they represent a lower risk. Meaning: borrowers with stronger credit scores are statistically more likely to pay the entire loan back in full, rather than defaulting on the loan.

That said, some lenders specialize in offering bad credit car loans. The trick is to know how to shop for these loans.

Steps To Finding 100 Percent Financing Bad Credit Car Loans

If you have a bad credit score, then, you need to find a lender who specializes in bad credit car loans. But, what if you problem is compounded further by your not having any money to put down on your new car loan?

In this situation, you are going to need to find a lender who specializes in 100 percent financing bad credit car loans. These lenders offer 100% financing, which means they require no money down.

Here are some steps to finding such a lender:

1. Focus on buying a car with a low price. In other words: set your sights on something within your means. Right now, your goal should be to get yourself behind the wheel of a good quality, working - and yet modest - car. You can always get your dream car next time around.

2. Research your credit score before contacting the lender. Be sure to contact each of the Big Three credit bureaus, since your score will likely vary from one to the next.

3. Look for and locate lenders who identify themselves as bad credit lenders. Be sure to make a list of at least 5 lenders who describe themselves this way.

4. Apply online or by phone to all 5 lenders.

5. Be sure to NOT accept the first offer you receive from each of them. Rather, go back at least once and say, "I know you can do better." Usually, they will.
